There are so many different food brands available on the market, which do you decide to try? What if you go to all that work of finding a suitable food, and your bird turns his beak up? Been there, done that. Birds can be picky eaters!Lately, I've been contacting well known bird food companies, in regards to samples. Some bird food companies readily give out samples to potential customers. If there is a company you are interested in, e-mail them mentioning you are interested in their food products, the number of birds you have, and could you please have a sample to try out on your flock?

Avi-Sci: Yes, they provide samples, but they request that you pay shipping on the product. The shipping cost is 8.95 for a 5 pound bag, which retails for 19.95
Avian Naturals: No, they do not send samples due to being such a small company. They do assure that they use the best products in their foods, and recommend purchasing the one pound cage mixes, some sprouts, and one of their
speciality food items so that you can have a good taste of what the food is like.
Beak Appetite: Does not give samples, but assures a 100% money- back guarantee if you or your birds are not satisfied with their product.
They suggest ordering the trial size variety pack of foods, too see which flavor your bird best responds to.
Bird-Elicious: No, they do not have samples. They do have 1.5 lb trial packs you can purchase for 5.99 + shipping(this information on their website). Interestingly, I emailed them anyway to ask for samples and recieved a small amazon diet sample. Thank you, Bird-Elicous!

Crazy Corn: Yes, they send samples. Recieved 1 lb free Tropical Pudding. Thank you, Crazy Corn! Interestingly, someone else notified me that when they sent a sample request, they were told the company does not give samples. I wonder if this is a new development?

Dr. Harveys: Does not offer sample sizes, the smallest you can purchase is a 2 lb bag. They offer a 100% money back guarantee, and say that very few birds have ever turned down their foods.
Goldenfeast Gourmet Foods: Yes, they do give out samples! I wrote in yesterday and am awaiting my package in the mail. Extremely fast, contentious customer service.
Hagen: Yes. Got 4 trial packs of their parrot 'sticks', small parrot lifetime formula, medium parrot lifetime formula, and 'bean mix'. Thank you, Hagen. My birds loved your food.
Harrisons: Yes, they do provide samples. Just list the species, and number of your birds so they may send the appropriate food(s). They are also including their 'Handbook to A Healthier Bird'. Recieved samples. 3 small packages, like what vets
commonly give out at the vets office. Probably cost more to ship then what the samples were worth. My birds were not too impressed.
Higgins: Does not send samples, but offers to send a packet of information regarding their products.
Kaylor of Colorado: Never responded
Lafeber Company: Yes, they do give free samples! I emailed last week and they responded right away. Today in the mail I recieved my sample package. 3 pounds worth of birdie treats. Thank you, Lafeber.

Noah's Kingdom: Recieved email- yes, they do send samples. Received half pound of their parrot seed mix in the mail. Very clean seed, and my birds loved it. Thank you Noahs Kingdom

Pretty Bird, Inc: Yes, they do send samples! Very fast customer service- I recieved my sample package in the mail today. WOW! 7 pounds of food. Thank you, Pretty Bird!

Scenic Bird Foods: Do not provide samples. They suggest purchasing their Trial Size 6 0z packages of food.
Sleek & Sassy: Does not give samples.

Zeigler: Received small package of parrot food with literature. Birds were not impressed with the pellets- in size and color it reminded me of Roudybush.
Please, if you do get samples from any of the above companies, make sure to write them a thank you note when you recieve your products. We want their samples to be available to other bird owners in the future.
